I used to have an outside dog that would bring home the Poison Ivy oil to share. Using rubbing alcohol over the effected area including shoes, clothing, and animals. My dog was actually effected by it and learned not to go near that area in the woods finally, but he was bathed in Aveno oatmeal bath ( cheaper method is to grind your own oatmeal). You would have thought he was in heaven ( although150lb dog in a bathtub HILARIOUS). In the case of dry cracking skin try Cortisone 10 Intensive Healing. And if that is not keeping your skin moist enough to keep it from cracking them apply some Aquifer over the top.

As for outside the only method I have heard of working well was to spray them with plant killer that kills the root system as well and once they have started to die to actually manually go in and rip them out trying to get as much of the root system as possible.

I've been battling with the rash for about two weeks now, I probably should have gone to the doctor but I'm stubborn and wanted to find a natural remedy. The best I've found has been the jewel weed plant. It's a natural antidote.......you chop the plant, boil with a few cups of water and freeze it in ice cube trays .Apparently it will stay for a year so I'll be ready if it happens again

Have you heard of using a banana peel? I read an article recently that said it relieves the itching.

Not sure how it works, but if you try it, let me know if it helps

I've heard of the banana peel cure but I have not tried it. I have tried bleach though, I thought my nephew was nuts when he told me to use a bleach/water solution on it. The first time I did it it instantly took the itching away. I tried to do it the next day but it didn't work as well, plus I was very leary to use bleach for too long, it's very easy to get a chemical burn if left on the skin too long. That's when someone told me about the Jewel weed and it works very well.
