I bought a $400ish notebook from Samsung in January. I am pleased with the quality and its durability. I love, LOVE their TV's, so even though the price seems low, I would so jump at this if I could. I heard they make most of their own components, so that keeps prices low.

How would this be for turking? I need a new computer but am not familiar w/ Linux operating system, which this one seems to have.

(The only really negative comment I saw on the reviews was that something happened to the person's screen & that the screen wasn't covered by the warranty so it would cost 1/2 as much to fix it as a new one would cost. Most of the other reviews were pretty positive.)

Linux is quite efficient and once you learn it, its easy. I don't what distro is available on that laptop, but I prefer Debian or Gentoo. There are so many free and low cost resources to learn Linux and you can download a 'cheat sheet' to keep commands handy until you learn them. Linux has a very large selection of open source software, so whatever you need, there is an app for it! Debian does the best at grabbing everything you need when you download new software, so that you don't spend hours searching for every single package your software needs.
