This makes sense on more levels than I can count. Now I at least know why so many of those "gold standard" answers are completely wrong.

That does explain it all. Including seeing the same wrong golden answer again and again after reporting it.
Lol, well I can admit I have drank on the job before. Smaller companies generally are the ones that do stuff like this although I know Google offers drinks on Friday's and offers free cab service. It really does help moral a good bit when you can relax. When turking, I have been known to have a few drinks.
I now my 1st job at a very large engineering software firm they would occasionally have margaritas or something at our Friday BBQs, but they monitored us support engineers - wouldn't be good to lower our inhibitions when on the phone with a stupid customer.
Well I sometimes drink while turking. I think that counts as drinking on the job.
When I'm not turking, I'm helping people save money on their monthly utility bills.
I don't know I guess I am old fashioned, but I strongly think work should be that work. Then again I do not drink at all, so maybe I miss the point of drinking.

I don't have much if a sense of humor knowing that my work was possibly being judged by someone who was been drinking on the job. And in general, drinking on the job is kind of a lame and irresponsible thing to do. How many of us would like doctors, pilots, taxi or bus drivers, teachers, day care workers, nurses, or people who assemble computers to drink on the job? If you have to drink to tolerate being on the job, you definitely need to get a different job. Anyone who can't manage to stay off booze for those few hours is in sad, sad shape.
How many unfair rejections were issued by that group of irresponsible buffoons?
