    Crowdsourcing Industry Report

Massolution™, a research firm specializing in crowdsourcing solutions just released a report about the crowdsourcing industry. The link will take you to the highlights of the report.

    http://www.crowdsourcing.org/editori...solution/11736
“The crowdsourcing market is growing at an accelerated rate with the venture capital community investing nearly $300 million in CSPs in 2011 alone,” said massolution CEO and founder of Crowdsourcing.org, Carl Esposti.

Contrary to a commonly held view that crowdsourcing is a transfer of low-skill work to low-cost locations, research shows that nearly 60% of all crowd workers live in North America and Europe. Additionally, almost 50% have a bachelor degree. Other key findings include:
    • Number of crowd workers is growing in excess of 100% a year
    • Crowd members work at least once a month; about half work as often as once a day
    • Nearly 77% of all workers have a primary job
What new technology does is create new opportunities to do a job that customers want done.

These statistics seem to match what I'm seeing here on TN. I haven't read the whole article, but it looks like this will invalidate any previous ones' that portrayed Turkers as ne'er-do-wells who are just looking for enough pocket money to get through the day.

It's too bad the full report is only available to "interested journalists" because I would like to see the full report. Any one have any ideas on how to get it.

btw - I've read the whole article, now.
