I have a question. I see you have "secret shopping" as a no-no. The best requester I've worked with was offering $2 per call to phone shop a company, I loved doing them as I used to do phone shops in my previous job. Each call took about 5 minutes and he's not only paid me for every call within 12 hours, he's been really quick to respond and answer questions. Seems very much on the up-and-up, is there a reason I shouldn't do these that I'm not aware of?

Secret Shopping/Mystery Shopping violates the Mturk TOS rules as they give the requester your information. Also there are a lot of Secret shopping/Mystery shopping that is a scam - (e.g. get a check and wire back 80% of it to test the wire/bank service) - Though I do Mystery Shopping/Secret Shopping as it is legit industry and almost any chain store uses them. (Please don't fill my inbox asking where you find these)

Ah, hadn't seen that kind, makes sense. The ones I did, I didn't share any info, they were anonymous phone calls to a business with a made-up name. Thanks for the info, though.

I avoid any HITs with bad grammar in them or post unusually high payments for tasks unless they're known to be a good requester. I am very wary of new requesters and tend to not do too many HITs for them until I know that they pay.

Yeah the only new hits that have no TO are the ones that are University studies

some of the psych surveys use a software called "inquisit" which is legit, they use it in the psychology department at my university for the experiments we had to do for gen psych. Just in case those are some you're passing up.

Also, anything where you do a phone anything is a no no? is that the general consensus? (there's a bunch of things like "real estate agent interview" etc and I just want to know if I should avoid any from that requester)

Thanks for the tips. I always see those credit report HITs but have always been reluctant to do them. I am glad that I didn't do them. Good to get confirmation that they are scams.

Yeah, sometimes I just chalk that up to them being foreigners; however, that is an excellent reason; especially if they have negative TO.

Thanks! I didn't know about the scams in surveys, I guess I have been lucky, since maybe 50-60% of my accumulated HIT's have been surveys. Then again, all of them have paid less than 1 dollar, so maybe that should indicate they are legit.
