I took History of the English Language, a common course in college for English majors, and can't believe I got a good grade in it. It had an acronym you guys can probably all guess. That is not a language I wish to speak.

I must be very old because I have never heard that usage before. The sentence sounds as bad to me as nails scratching across a blackboard. Anybody else?

At least, the usage is not precise. Did you set up the meeting? Did you participate? Did you agree to a meeting? Did you join a meeting in progress?

If this does not bother you, do you have a word usage that drives you nuts or is everything okay this day and age?
I think it might be similar to "take a class". This is what we say in the ballet world when we want to attend a dance class. (well, that was 37 years ago for me)

Morning! The use of "a myriad of things" drives me bonkers The word myriad means "a lot of", so you are effectively saying a a lot of of. Don't use words if you don't know their meaning! The other one which bugs me is "I need", as in "I need a tall soy latte". No, you don't "need" a coffee; you "want" a coffee. You need air to breathe, water to drink. You do not need a coffee On that note, I haven't had any coffee yet...
