Thread: Do you think these are fair payments?

Do you think these are fair payments?

    Hello Turkers,

our research team is about to start an experiment and we would like to ask your opinion on the tasks/payments we are proposing. The experiment would consist of multiple HITs; so, Turkers that participate to the first HIT have the chance to participate in the following ones and ensure themselves "paid work" for a total of 6 HITs.
Here the proposed HITs with respective payments:

HIT 1: estimated response time 28 minutes; payment 4$. This HIT consists of a survey and, at the end, participants are asked to download an application (completely safe and has been even featured by New York Times).
HIT 2: estimated response time 40 minutes; payment $6. This HIT will consist of a survey and will contain a proof-reading task.
HIT 3: estimated response time 8 minutes; payment $1. This HIT will consist of a brief survey.
HIT 4: estimated response time 8 minutes; payment $1. This HIT will consist of a brief survey.
HIT 5: estimated response time 40 minutes; payment $6. This HIT will consist of a survey and will contain a proof-reading task.
HIT 6: estimated response time 18 minutes; payment $2. This HIT will consist of a survey.

Turkers that participate in the 6 HITS also receive a 3$ bonus at the end.
Do you think the proposed payments are fair? Any comment is much appreciated.

    Thank you,

Welcome to the forum @ResearchLab. Thanks for asking our opinion. If the time estimates are not underestimated, I think the pay is ok. Most are at least minimum wage (depending on your state) except for the $2 at 18 minutes. That comes out to $6.66 per hour. That's not a good omen.

Thank you for asking! As others have already noted, as long as the time estimates are fairly accurate, the payments are fair.

The pay sounds very fair. When you post the first survey could you let us know both in this thread and in the daily hit thread.

Payment amounts look fair to me assuming the time estimates are close to accurate. Thanks for asking our opinion too!
