    Turkopticon

    Hello all,
I have heard so much about turkopticon but when i search for threads on it i only find 7!!!!!
None of those 7 detail it very well. I would like to start this thread to help people like me. Here are my questions:

Where do i actually download turkopticon from? (I use chrome to turk)

once i download it how do i use it to make turking more efficient?

Are there any negatives to downloading it that users should be aware of?

And hopefully there will be more questions and lots more answers and wisdom shared in the thread. Thank you in advance for
    everyone's input.

Great you are using chrome! It's then simply a matter of installing the appropriate chrome extension: here's a link.

This gives you a quick glance at the overall quality of each requester as you preview their HITs in the dashboard. No downside that I'm aware of!

    Happy turking~

Once you install it the benefits will be apparent

On the downside (which are by far outweighed by the benefits) are that it has caused browser lag on occasion, and some users leave very poor reviews. Sometimes you have to carefully read the reviews and make your own assessment or determination.
Eschew obfuscation, espouse elucidation. Batch HITs for newbs. 1000 req'd. 5000 req'd.

    Hi.

    1. You can also download from here for both Chrome and Firefox http://turkopticon.ucsd.edu/.

    2. Just scroll down the page until you see Turk opticon Firefox and Turk opticon Chrome. Press button.

    3. Once Opticon is loaded, look at your hit screen. You will see little red arrows pointing downward (to the left of each requester.)

    4. Hover over arrow. You will see 4 ratings for that requester.

    5. If you are brand new to turking, avoid requesters whose ratings are not pretty much in green.

    6. You will also see "scores based on" number of reviews. Click on that --to see details of all reviews.

    7. As you gain experience, you can read the reviews to see which ones are accurate and which ones you can pay no attention to. The most important rating to avoid "rejections" is fairness rating. If that rating is all red, it may mean the requester is issuing a lot of rejections.

    8. Unfortunately some people on opticon complain about stupid things--but you will be able to detect that as you gain experience.

Finally---for new people, this is the best way to avoid really bad requesters.

I don't know if you guys noticed but all commenting has been turned off on TO.
Now you can leave reviews and not worry about a troll messing with you, but also, you will not be able to receive any helpful comments or requester comments as well.
