Nearly every day, though, windows detects a problem and has to shut down my computer regardless of where I am in a project. Anybody else have this problem? Or am I just "special"?

    From last week: http://money.cnn.com/2013/05/07/tech...lue/index.html

"The company will launch an update to Windows 8, codenamed "Blue," by this year's holiday season. Microsoft was skimpy on details, but rumors include the return of the Start button and changes to make apps easier and more intuitive to use."

Help is on the way, only a year too late..

Oh geez, I have to do 12 different things just to get the UI to resemble windows 7 again? I'll pass on windows 8, thank you...at least until my computer gives out and I have no choice

You know those Whatever Whatever Books for Dummies? Well, there is one out for Windows 8 that I borrowed from the library. I haven't gotten into it very far yet, but I just may have to buy one to keep. I'll tell you why.
That disappearing "Charm Bar" has been driving me nuts. Disappears when I want the Settings button so I can properly shut down my computer. Appears and gets in my way when I am trying to work on something on my screen.
There's a key that looks like a window (sort of; anyway it has four squares). Press that key plus the C key and lo, and behold, it brings the "Charm Bar" into view without all the wild mouse gyrations that I have had to use previously to get it to appear. Yep! I learned it from that book for Dummies.
    previously dunce

    now cool

I'd say Windows 8 is a good touch screen OS. Not doing anything for me with the keyboard/mouse. We'll see if Windows Blue fixes any of that.

Been using it full time for 4 months now. I have to say, it definitely exceeded my expectations. A little glitchy here and there, and yes, some of the more advanced features and designs are not quite there yet, but I don't see any reason to keep from using it.
