    Dealing with mass rejections?

I just got a mass rejection and I'm sure I'm not the first one. So how do you deal with it? What are your options?

Dan Grote just rejected 278 of my hits. I should of known better then to work for requesters with no reviews on turkopticon. I know I did all the work correctly so I guess he just didn't want to pay for the work.

So what do I do from here? I already contacted him asking for a explanation. Can I bitch to amazon? Will they even care?

I better go get started on my 27k Oscar Smith hits...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but unless the requester responds and admits it was some type of mistake on his part and is willing to work to reverse the rejections, there is nothing you can do.

Yes, you can contact Amazon. No, they will not care.

I feel for you, rakta. That is a bitter pill to swallow. You just have to take it as a lesson learned and move on. Maybe you will hear back from the requester.

    Yes.

    Will they even care?
    No.

Honestly, the best thing to do now is to work on getting your approval rating back up. You're not going to be able to do a lot of the high-paying stuff; and even if you could, I'd focus more on HITs that can be done quickly, so you can do as many as possible. Collective Endeavor was what I used to get my rating up in the first place, but any other fast and sure-to-approve HITs will fit the bill. Good luck!

I did 34 hits for that guy. I am praying that he approves them. I'm with you. I try not to take hits from untested requesters.

My sincere sympathy, Rakta. I know how you feel, somewhat.

I recently had 28 HITs rejected, and the requester was at fault and admitted it. He said he was working with Amazon to get it turned around. I thought it couldn't hurt if I, too, contacted Amazon. Here's the reply I got:

"Unfortunately, as we have previously stated, we cannot reverse the rejection for you. We are unable to provide you with any more information about the rejected HITs other than what we already have. You will need to continue working with the Requester to get this issue resolved. I am sorry, I know how frustrating this can be, but we would strongly recommend staying in contact with the Requester as we are unable to assist you further.

Thank you for participating in Mechanical Turk.

I'm committed to providing world class customer service. "

So that was their final word to me. Good luck to you...

I, also, did 34 of his HITs. Now I'm just waiting for the shoe to drop.

We're sitting in the same boat. He rejected 85 of mine and I'm uber pissed off about it. I have to say I agree with everyone, and hopefully there are some decent people out there on mturk.

Now I'm really paranoid. Amazon should do something about Requesters who reject all or most of submitted hits, for no valid reason.

    About 36 hours I guess.

No response from the requester yet. I assume one isn't coming. Ill e-mail amazon just to see tomorrow, not expecting anything to happen but why not try?

Live and learn I guess. It could have been far worse, luckily I have a bit of hits done to absorb the blow but it still sucks. A lot of my favorite requesters require 99% approved and it will take a while to work back up to that.

I hope the others that were rejected also had some hits done. It would suck for someone that has just been on mturk for a few days to get screwed like this.

That's awful. Ugh. I did four for the guy then stopped because they hadn't approved and he had no reviews on Turkopticon. They're still pending.
