What does everyone think about all the requester specific communities?

I belong to a few of their communities, but I don't use the same email address or username that I use here or on other real-life profiles. And I would never be silly enough to think that free speech really exists there. That's what TN and TO are for

I know of the requester you are speaking about and they could not pay me to join their community.

I love the one hit out of 100 that pays a fair wage, but the rest of their hits SUCK.

There are a few requesters who I am member of an off site community for, and for the most part except for one, they all SUCK.
There is more than one requester who uses turkernation only to communicate with workers and by far they are some of the best requesters. The ones who branch off are looking for control, and that is all. They believe they are bigger than the workforce and are independent of mturk. They do so because they do not want workers giving their honest opinions, they want no negative feedback. They only want fluffy bunnies and kittens and when they do not pay a fair wage, they will only get that by moderating and removing people who speak their mind.

Excellent post and I agree. What really grinds my gears are requesters asking what, 1-2 cents for a job that takes 10 minutes to complete, do they think we workers are (A) stupid enough to take those jobs and (B) that its ethical to do that? That's worse than a chinese sweatshop.

I joined a couple. Don't know why really. What I get from it is a breakdown of the types of hits I have done. I'm picky so I don't just jump on hits because they are posted by one requester in particular. So I see that the 7 I have done for them over 2-3 months are all research type. YAY. Other than that I don't see any use for them.

I noticed that most that have their own little community, are made up of a bunch of requesters or so it seems. See that's something I don't want. I want to work for specific requesters and prove my worth with them. Test any Quals they may have. That means more to me than a community site with lots of information reminding me how low they pay me and why I shouldn't touch their hits again :P
