Angry Requesters allowed to bait and switch?

Today, 1 HIT was accepted while the other 2 were rejected. Reason given was:
"HIT was accidentily labelled $.50, when true value was $.05. You will be recompensated. Sorry for any trouble this may have caused."

2 rejections due to an error on their part (not mine) is not something I'm thrilled about. Also, the tasks I did were definitely not worth doing for 5 cents.

Thumbs down from me; I'll be staying away from this requester.

This should not be allowed. If a requester posts a job for a price, then they should be held to the price upon completion of the work. I almost feel silly saying anything considering that some requesters will just take your work and reject for no reason, but in a way this seems even worse to me. If certain requesters caught on to this I could easily see them abusing this worse than those who flat out reject. A lot of workers don't want to do HITs for unreasonably low pay, so they post at a reasonable rate and pay at a crap rate.
Where did I leave that siggy at?

I think you misunderstood part of that. What ever the base pay a hit is posted at, that is what they have to pay you if they approve the hit.

HIT was accidentily labelled $.50, when true value was $.05. You will be recompensated.
There is no guarantee that this worker will get the $.05 that the requester posted unless they get it as a bonus, which I doubt going by what the requester has already done. Only other way would be for the requester to post another hit that pays $.05 but honestly I don't know why anyone would want to work for that requester again.

Wow. I would seriously report that requester and their email to Amazon. That has got to be a violation of their rules???

Maybe I am misreading it. I'm certainly known to make mistakes. At any rate that just reaffirms my belief that requesters need another way to disposition the HITs that are being rejected due to requester errors, but I already posted a suggestion thread on that. I do feel better knowing that they can't bait and switch though.

Regardless, punishing the worker for the requester's own inability to type ".05" correctly is wrong. I wish requesters were more aware of the impact rejections have on workers.

The thread you quoted is mine; I received these rejections yesterday.

I understand that an error like this can occur; sure, typos are easy to make. But I did the work, pay what you wrote. Learn from the mistake and type more carefully next time!

Thankfully they did accept one of the HITs. The 50 cents I've received is good, and hopefully I'll get the other 10 cents they've promised (but not holding my breath). I've submitted enough HITs that 2 rejection barely affect my rate, but I still hate being rejected for something that's not my fault.

I am thinking I had a hit rejected from this same requester but in my case the reason for the rejection was that they said the hit was not supposed to have been published. Once the hit is posted it seems to me to be fair game for someone to complete it and if they do the requester should pay regardless if they meant to publish it or not.

I agree that if it is posted, you accept and complete it, they should be bound regardless. To many things protecting requesters and nothing to protect the workers.
Did you try emailing the requester and explaining the hardship their mistake had placed on you? A rejection can be painful not just to the ego, but enough of these and they hurt your pocket.

I had a similar situation a few months ago. Only this was a 2.00 research which was lengthy. The reason for rejection was the pay was suppose to be .20 which they had sent me a bonus for that amount.
I sent the requester a polite message. In this I included the fact that the research took almost 40 minutes to complete and I would never have done this for a mere .20. More important was it was a direct reflection of my work by giving me a rejection for something which had nothing to do with anything I had done wrong. This was purely an error on their part. Good or bad, I was being hurt by it.
The requester felt simply horrible and spent 2 weeks emailing me while he was trying to work it out with Amazon to have that rejection removed. He ended up giving me the 1.80 with an additional 5.00 bonus. He said he felt simply terrible about hurting my performance. But he had learned the value of the people on the other end of the computer and was going to go over every detail from that day forward before posting other hits.
It didn't remove one of the 24 rejections that stain my account. But it felt a little better to eat that one knowing he at least compensated me and understood how workers are affected by the actions of the requesters.

This is why Amazon needs to implement a feedback system. But I doubt they will ever do that for us.

That is BS. Even CS, not one my favorite requesters, wildly miss-priced a hit I pounced on once, but they still coughed up the money. It was their fault after all.

EDIT: NM the second part of this post. I didn't realize what thread this was in.
