    Anybody have horses?

    My furry family includes:

    2 Cats (1 Siamese / 1 Siamese-Ragdoll)
1 Dog (MinPin mixed w/ God knows what )

    3 Horses (1 Quarter Horse / 1 Quarter Horse-Paint Mix / 1 Tennessee Walker)

    3 Turkeys (1 Tom / 2 Hens)

12 or so Chickens (1 Rooster)

I am relatively new to the horse world, so I am trying to learn as much as I can about them. I grew up on a farm so I'm used to chickens and turkeys, but my dad wouldn't let us have horses. So I married a guy with a horse! (hee hee) We moved onto 20 acres about 6 months ago and were able to bring his horse (the Quarter-Paint mix) to live with us. So we decided to get me a horse too (the TW). Hubby went to the auction one day and couldn't pass up this sweet Quarter Horse mare, so now we have three.

Anyway, I am kind of hoping that there might be some horse people around here that might be able to help me out if I have questions. I have found lots of valuable information on this forum, so I figured I'd just throw this out there also.

I had horses when I was young--grew up around them. My father was a farrier. It's been thirty years, but maybe I can still be helpful.

My sister has 5 or so miniature horses. I think I posted pics of them in here once. She used to have two regular horses additionally, but she didn't have time enough to ride them to justify the upkeep costs + they were too big for the kids. She sold one and the other one stays over at her buddy's house since he helped train all the horses and he won't let her sell her The mini horses are her pride and joy though and much more kid friendly. The kids can ride them like regular horses if they want and if the adults want to ride they have a little Amish carriage (1 mini can pull two+ adults no problem).

Anyway, if you have any questions I could forward them to her and I'm sure she'd share some wisdom
