Blender -- always free. But a brainbuster.
I will check this out.

Nobody should ever subject themselves to this terrible software. We had a Blender unit in my graphics class and it made me want to tear my hair out strand by strand.

The website won't let you checkout...strange. The page keeps saying can't be found when you checkout.

I think they want to sell the quality models and art for the apps. That's my best guess so far.

Worked for me on a Mac using the latest version of Safari - do you have any JS blocking or anything? Just a guess, you'd be better off asking the DAZ3D people for support, but it did work for me this morning.
Good luck :D

It was a me problem. I use PeerBlock, and I have to unblock sites all the time.

cool deal :)
also, it is definitely free because of add-ons they want to sell like this -> http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/genesis-anime-starter?item=13939 <-

It keeps changing and improving. I've worked with it for a while, for the modest things I make for Second Life.

There are some great free Blender tutorials out there for people interested in a completely free 3D solution. My personal favorite (simple) 3D animation tool is Kinemac, but it is quite limited compared to these other apps.

In terms of pretty simple 3-d modeling, there is also http://sketchup.google.com/. I've had my fair share of fun with that ;-)
