CrowdFlower (http://www.crowdflower.com/), a startup that helps businesses manage crowdsourced labor, has named a new CEO — co-founder Lukas Biewald.
So Biewald laid off part of the sales and marketing team and plans to expand engineering and product. Hobbs is leaving the company. And CrowdFlower is announcing two new board members — Match.com founder Gary Kremen (who was already an investor) and Jigsaw founder Jim Fowler.

What does that mean for us? Reduction of slave wages? Clearer unambiguous instructions? Fewer hits they say are wrong which are clearly correct?

I don't think it's possible to pay us less. I laughed at the work they wanted for a nickle this morning.

The fact they have changed the leadership at Cloud Flower happen for some reason. Possible they were being late on many projects or their poor QC was noticed by their customers. That they are expanding the staff that is responsible for designing and building the hits can be a good sign for us. If they want more people to do their hits, they need to pay more.
I did look up Lukas Biewald on LinkedIn.

Yeah, if they just didn't have an abysmal QC and paid fair wages I think they would see a huge improvement in task completion time and quality. I mean, that's really all it takes, and they could be a top requester. Could that possibly be all that difficult? I like to think not...

I've never understood why the bigger corporations would offer ridiculously low compensation as they're already getting the work done for far below market value. As Project 2501 points out, it just drives away the quality workers and invites lazy/poor work and scammers. Whatever money they save in compensation is being wasted in QC anyway.

Lets hope this means more quality HITs from them.
Its not possible scam them with their QC being such a pain in the rear. I actually think the QC is meant to keep the scammers away. The thing with CF/DL is that they have such a wide range HITs, most are very low paying, some are decent paying. Like some of the Twitter ones they have posted now, they had them in December and they were paying 20-25 cents for the same exact HIT. That is a huge paycut.
I am not as negative on them as some people, I dont let emotions get in the way of making money, which is my reason for turking. ;)
If a hit says crowdflower I just stay away on principle. It seems like I'd waste time looking at their instructions, then understanding what it is they want. Then figuring out how fast I could do it in relation to what the hit paid. After awhile I just started mostly ignoring their hits because even if I found something good it seemed like I could only do it x times a day. In the long run I just don't think the incentive is there for me to pay attention to their hits. I realize I could miss some good hits doing this but I also think I save more time for other hits than what those needle in a haystack hits are worth.

I did a bunch of their HITs when I was getting started (ie. before I knew better) and they all approved. IMO, CrowdFlower is just a company that expects a lot for very little. After I didn't do any of their HITs for a few days they wrote me and gave me access to their website where I can find jobs that I'm "qualified for"... It's a joke, I don't know why anyone would do those once they've established themselves TBH.
