View Full Version : Weekend turking
01-22-2012, 09:23 PM
So far it seems to me that there is far less available to do on weekends. Does anyone else find that is true?
Is there an optimal time for turking, such as Monday afternoons or Wednesday mornings, when there are tons of hits?

Most of the time week ends seem kind of slow. Hits show up but there are so many more workers available to grab them, it seems to me.

I find the same issue. I'm a college student (was working 30+ as a waitress, store closed two weeks ago when corporate came in and told us we were all terminated as of 12:01am that morning. 4 hour notice. Been putting in applications like crazy) so it's hard for me to do too much turking during the week. I try to after my classes, but they let out around 3 Monday through Thursday, and I feel like that's when most of the good HITs are up.

I am lucky to make $2 a day on the weekends. I dont spend half as much time on the weekends turking as I do during the week because of it, but it does give my eyes a break .

It does seem like is more time for less money. Last Sunday was great but today is :(.

While a lot of good requesters are usually more active during the weekdays, there are a few who put stuff up on the weekends. Keep searching and maybe you will find a few. If you don't already use it, I highly recommend using Turkalert. You can get emails when requesters put up HITs, and it helped me nab some good HITs this weekend.

I've found the same to be true, however, the later I've worked so far tonight the more I am finding hits.

Turkalert is awesome when you need/want to do other IRL stuff. I get emailed notified on my phone before it hits my laptop email, so even if I'm not at my keyboard, I'll get nudged when my fav requesters hand out work. Sundays are also when I want to venture off and find potential new requesters to do work for within similar keywords that I feel comfortable with. Or, if it has to come to a last resort - taking tonight as an example - I'll do some [Please do not share hits or requesters in Mturk General. There are other sections for that.] hits while I'm watching football... it gives me an additional bump on my approved statistics =P

Sunday can go either way. Until I got a big batch of hits tonight I had only made 4.95 for the weekend. I thought that was going to be all there was. I got lucky though.

Sunday is always up in the air for me. I made $25 today, which is a lot lower than what I was aiming for. It's all good though. Sunday tends to be my "day off" for Turking. :)

Weekends are always hit or miss for me. My fav requesters don't post too often on weekends, but I try to make it work. This weekend in particular I was looking at the available hits and going "wow... there's crap". Just gotta dig for it sometimes.
01-23-2012, 02:21 AM
From my experience weekends are usually slow. Not always but more than likely.

Weekends are often slow.

This was my best weekend yet actually. Saturday was my best out of the two days. Maybe it's because I've gotten into a groove, or maybe I'm finally "learning how to turk" better ;)
01-23-2012, 05:41 AM
Some weekends can be very good most most of them are very slow.
01-23-2012, 05:43 AM
It makes sense, but it's kind of frustrating that weekends are the times when the work is the slowest, but my time to do the work is the greatest!
01-23-2012, 10:39 AM
Weekends are usually family time, but I'll pop in every now and then and see what I can get done in between whatever is going on. One weekend long ago was great, but other than that...slow slow slow. I noticed a couple evenings last week were really good. I was surprised.
01-23-2012, 11:30 AM
Thanks! I will prowl around and find it! I did do some HITS last night and made $6. Not great, but I wasn't doing anything else, so why not?
01-23-2012, 01:22 PM
Yeah, I didn't find a whole lot over the weekend. The one requester I wanted to work on kept having server issues so I couldn't power through their hits like I wanted. Oh well, it's a new week!
01-23-2012, 04:43 PM
I usually don't turk that much on the weekends anyway. I go to school online and turk as a break from classes, so weekends are my relax time. But when I do, I have noticed that there isn't much available. Also, does anyone else feel like it takes longer for HITs done on weekends to approve?
01-24-2012, 09:01 AM
It seems like weekends are slow but sometimes later on Sunday it gets busy.
01-24-2012, 02:02 PM
I hadn't thought about all the people who have full time jobs and maybe only turk on weekends. I think I'll stop trying on weekends.
01-24-2012, 02:16 PM
this seems to be the case. I'm off on saturdays from my ft job so this is a bummer :(
01-24-2012, 02:41 PM
From my (sort of limited) experience, I'd agree that weekends are pretty slow. I guess more incentive for me to be as productive as I can during the week so I can relax though.
01-24-2012, 03:04 PM
Well...dont have much experience with Mturk on weekends as the Mrs doesn't like me spending time on the laptop instead of with her!
01-24-2012, 09:52 PM
I do a little turking sometimes on Saturday afternoons but usually there's not much worth doing. I'd rather spend an hour or so looking on weeknights or work on my lunch hour.
01-25-2012, 03:10 AM
It's been pretty random for me, weekends usually are kind of slow though. Although sometimes a good requester will popup and that theory goes down the drain.
01-25-2012, 01:48 PM
me too - i just find random ones during the weekend mornings that i might have missed during the week
01-25-2012, 03:02 PM
I really do not find it worth my time to work on the weekends. The good requesters seem to pretty much only post during the weekend.
01-27-2012, 06:43 PM
I don't turk on the weekends. I had not thought about more people turking on the weekends and some of them being ft workers who are free on weekends to turk. I guess I should be more active during the week.
01-27-2012, 08:43 PM
Seems as though there are a lot less hits on weekends.
01-27-2012, 09:44 PM
There's tons to do on there tonight, I hope some of it spills over into the weekend.
01-27-2012, 09:55 PM
I always tend to try to work on the weekends but can never find enough work to do.
01-27-2012, 11:46 PM
Whats available tonight?
01-29-2012, 01:28 PM
This weekend at least for me has been absolutely horrendous with nothing at all to work on for a good chunk of change, seems like its getting worse weekend by weekend. Struggling just to make a few extra bucks today :(
01-29-2012, 01:49 PM
I usually turk less on the weekends than during the week anyway. I get distracted really easy, and I prefer to have a totally quiet house when I'm working. It's just too loud here over the weekends.
01-29-2012, 02:07 PM
Seems like there's less on weekends to me too. Mores the pity as I only have a few hours at night to turk otherwise.

Most weekends I try to make 200 but since the new year has started this entire year has sucks I have been lucky to make 300 a week total... This blows. I hope things pick up like last year.[COLOR="CadetBlue"]
01-29-2012, 05:03 PM
Yeah sadly im stuck with hoping something good pops up but so far this year that has not been the case. Wow 200 during the weekend is really impressive, im lucky to make 50 dollars total, and this weekend barely reached 10 total.
Weekends definitely seem to be the slow days, which is unfortunate because it is when I can turk the most. I don't even think I broke a dollar today! :(
01-30-2012, 08:23 AM
This past weekend for me was a little better than normal. It wasn't as great as weekdays, but a few of my regular requesters consistently posted stuff through the weekend.
01-30-2012, 12:02 PM
I still find enough to do on weekends but they are slower. I use to have two favorite requesters who posted plenty on the weekends, but they have both since flown the coop. Ah, the good old days.
